Environmental Requirements for Men's Underwear

Regarding environmental regulations, the state has imposed increasingly strict requirements on the textile printing and dyeing sectors, compelling enterprises to adopt eco-friendly dyes and energy-efficient equipment. In 2024, total investment in eco-friendly equipment within the men's underwear industry reached 4.9 billion RMB, a year-on-year increase of 10.2%. This figure is projected to rise to 5.4 billion RMB in 2025, representing a growth of 10.8%. While the implementation of environmental policies increases costs for enterprises in the short term, it enhances the industry's overall sustainability in the long run.

Manufacturers must use organic, renewable, or bio-based eco-friendly materials and are prohibited from using highly polluting or non-biodegradable raw materials. Common compliant materials include uncontaminated organic cotton, mugwort plant fiber, corn-based fabrics, bamboo fiber, and zero-carbon Modal. Accessory materials-such as threads, buttons, elastic bands, and linings-must also meet environmental safety standards to ensure human health.

International OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 (Class II): Applicable to underwear that comes into direct contact with the skin, this standard tests for over 300 harmful substances and is the widely recognized safety and eco-friendly certification for textiles worn close to the body;

China Environmental Labelling (Ten-Ring Mark / Green Ecological Textile Certification): An authoritative domestic eco-certification that imposes environmental requirements across the entire process-from raw materials and production to the finished product;

Other certifications, such as international ITS certification, GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard), and GRS (Global Recycled Standard), also serve as useful references.
